Rule 93 is in effect on the main track and other tracks designated at the following locations: Deerfield: Extending from 411 actual feet east of the depot to 547 actual feet west of the depot. Kendahl: Extending from 77 actual feet east of the east switch of the siding to 77 actual feet west of the west switch of the siding. Chester: Extending from 271 actual feet east of the east switch of the siding to 95 actual feet west of the west switch of the siding and the Chester Cut Off. Williams: Extending from 94 actual feet east of the east switch of the siding to 5 actual feet east of New Crossing. Saville: Extending from 77 actual feet east of the east switch of the siding to 77 actual feet west of the west switch of the siding. Roundabout: Extending from 97 actual feet east of the east switch of siding No. 1 to 60 actual feet west of the west switch of the wye and including all wye tracks. Critchley: Extending from 547 actual feet west of the depot to 411 actual feet east of the depot. APPLICATION OF TIME AND POINT X3. At Deerfield time applies at the main track switch of the yard west ladder, except departing passenger trains must not leave the depot before the schedule leaving time. X4. At Critchley time applies at the main track switch of the yard east ladder lead, except departing passenger trains must not leave the depot before the schedule leaving time. REGISTER STATIONS X5. Deerfield is a register station and only eastward trains arriving shall register. X6. Critchley is a register station and only westward trains arriving shall register. X7. Roundabout is a register station and only westward trains arriving and terminating at Roundabout shall register. X10. Rule 83(B) does not apply when the engineer checks the train register. X11. At a register station at which only arriving trains are required to register, provisions X12. At a register station at which only arriving trains are required to register, extra precautions must be taken to prevent a following section from leaving before a leading section. NORMAL POSITION OF SWITCHES X14. Unless otherwise provided, the normal position of siding switches is as follows: Kendahl siding east switch - Siding; X15. Unless otherwise provided, switches within yard limits at Deerfield and within yard limits at Critchley have no normal position and may be left in either position after having been used, except at Deerfield the normal position of the switch from the main track to the ramp track spur is to be lined for the main track and the Chester Cut Off switches shall be governed by other special instructions. X16. Unless otherwise provided, switches within yard limits at Roundabout have no normal position and may be left in either position after having been used, except the normal position of the wye tail switch is to be lined for movement toward the wye west switch, and the normal position of the wye west switch is to be lined for the main track. X17. Unless otherwise provided, extra precautions must be taken to see that a switch designated as having a normal position that has been reversed is restored to its normal position after having been used. USE OF MAIN TRACK AND X18. Unless otherwise provided, westward trains take main track at Chester and take siding at Kendahl, Williams and Saville; eastward trains take main track Saville, Williams and Kendahl and take siding at Chester. X19. A train that is to stop at a station to be passed by a following train, must, if practicable, take the track opposite to that specified in Special Instruction X18. Extra precautions must be taken, and if necessary, flag protection provided as prescribed by Rule 99 until the train is clear and the switches are properly lined for other trains. USE OF MAIN TRACK AND X20. Unless otherwise provided, trains in either direction may occupy any track within yard limits at Deerfield, except the depot track must, if practicable, be kept clear for the use of passenger trains. X21. Extra precautions must be taken, and, if necessary, signals exchanged, to avoid trains from opposite directions entering at the same time any track within yard limits at Deerfield. USE OF MAIN TRACK AND X22. Unless otherwise provided, trains in either direction may occupy any track within yard limits at Roundabout, except the main track must, if practicable, be kept clear for the use of westward trains not terminating at Roundabout. X23. Extra precautions must be taken, and, if necessary, signals exchanged, to avoid trains from opposite directions entering at the same time any track within yard limits at Roundabout. USE OF MAIN TRACK AND X24. Unless otherwise provided, trains in either direction may occupy any track within yard limits at Critchley, except the depot track must, if practicable, be kept clear for the use of passenger trains. X25. Extra precautions must be taken, and, if necessary, signals exchanged, to avoid trains from opposite directions entering at the same time any track within yard limits at Critchley. ADDITIONAL ENGINE WHISTLE SIGNALS X26. The whistle may be sounded using the signals prescribed to call attention of, and indicate to, engine and train crews, switch tenders, lever men or other personnel the track that the engine or train sounding the whistle signals will take. The intensity and duration of the sounding of whistle signals shall be regulated taking into consideration the distance and urgency for which the signal is to be conveyed. The whistle signals prescribed are illustrated by "o" for short sounds; "-" for longer sounds. (a) - o - Taking main track. (b) - o - o Taking track or siding No. 1. (c) - o - o o Taking track or siding No. 2. (d) - o - o o o Taking track or siding No. 3. (e) - o - o o o o Tacking track or siding No. 4. FACILITIES AT OR BETWEEN STATIONS X27. Facilities are located as designated below: Deerfield: Chester: Roundabout: Critchley: TRAIN ORDER OFFICES X28. Train order offices are closed unless designated open by special instructions. SPEED RESTRICTIONS X30. All trains must operate at medium speed through the following locations: (a) When meeting or passing trains; X31 The following trains must operate at medium speed over the entire railway: (a) Circus and carnival trains; X33. When the temperature is less then 50 degrees Fahrenheit, trains and engines must approach all facing point switches at reduced speed, and the switch points must be examined for proper fit. X34. When the temperature is greater then 80 degrees Fahrenheit, engineers must take extra precautions to keep a sharp lookout ahead for sun-kinks that may occur in the track. EQUIPMENT RESTRICTIONS X36. The following equipment must not be operated over the following locations: No restrictions. SPRING SWITCHES X39. All switches within yard limits at Deerfield, within yard limits at Critchley and between Deerfield and Critchley are spring switches, except the switch from the main track to the ramp track spur is not a spring switch and the switches from both car barn leads to both car barns are stub switches. ADDITIONAL SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS X42. When the points of a switch are blocked, spiked, or the operating mechanism is defeated in any way, or the switch in unsafe or damaged in any way, the switch must be marked with a red flag, next to the operating mechanism, so as to be visible to the crew of an approaching train, and the train dispatcher notified as soon as possible. X43. When a switch is marked with a red flag, or is designated a red flag switch by train order or special instructions, movement through the switch must not be made, unless the switch points are in the proper position and it is safe for the movement to be made. X44. The normal position of a spur track switch, leading from a main track or siding, is to be lined against movement to the spur track. A spur track switch must be restored to its normal position after having been used. X45. Unless otherwise provided, the green aspect of a switch position signal indicates the switch is lined for the main track or primary route; the red or yellow aspect of a switch position signal indicates the switch is lined for the siding, secondary, crossover or connecting route. X47. The handle of an extended reach switch throw mechanism when horizontal and viewed as being on one side or the other of the crank rod indicates by its position relative to the crank rod the route for which the switch points are lined. X49. The sounding of Rule 15(l) is not required if it has been ascertained that no person or vehicle is approaching the crossing. X51. Conductors, engineers, trainmen, signalmen and other personnel concerned must examine and familiarize themselves with all bulletins and special instructions that are posted on the Train Crew Bulletin Boards at the Deerfield or Critchley engine houses before leaving on their first trip or before commencing work, failure to do so will not be excepted as excuse for neglect or violation of bulletins or special instructions. DEERFIELD YARD LADDER SWITCHES X60. The Deerfield yard tracks are designated by name commencing with main track for the most southerly and continuing north with track one, track two, track three and track four. X61. Track selection push button switches are located on a mast at the driveway and on each switch motor box. X63. Momentarily operating a track selection push button switch for the yard track required automatically lines the yard ladder switches for the track selected. X64. A track selection push button switch must not be operated, unless all Deerfield yard ladder switches are clear. TRAIN NUMBER CODE X85. Unless otherwise provided, the digits of the train number of a regular train convey the following information: Left digit - train crew number; CHESTER CUT OFF X91. A train displaying signals for a following section must not leave Chester yard limits via the Chester Cut Off unless authorized to do so by the train dispatcher. X92. The normal position of both switches of the Chester Cut Off shall be lined against movement over the Chester Cut Off. |
