SAFETY RULES
for
AMATEUR OBSERVERS OF RAILWAY OPERATIONS

1. Do not trespass on railway property or tracks.

2. Cross tracks only at established public crossings.

3. Stop before crossing a track, then look and listen in both directions for an approaching train.

4. Remove or turn off audio devices that may interfere with your hearing.

5. Expect an approaching train from either direction on any track at any time.

6. Take extra precautions before crossing multiple tracks after a train has passed.

7. Stand back and stay clear of approaching or passing trains.

8. Never stand on or near a track to record images or sound.

9. Do not trespass on railway property to record images or sound.

10. Do not record images or sound of trains of military equipment.

11. Do not publish, post or disseminate in any manner the locations were trains of military equipment are witnessed.

12. Report suspicious activities or circumstances witnessed on or near railway property to local law enforcement or railway officials. See official railway web sites below.
